Ski Nantucket and the Nobby Shop Story

The Nobby Shop was at one time Main Street's oldest clothing and footwear retailer, opening its doors in 1930 and closing in 2018, having served countless locals and visitors. Managed for decades by the Levine Family and Sam Limperis, Ski Nantucket began as a running joke with a longtime Nobby Shop customer about the island's highest point—the Madaket Landfill—and whether its slope would be good for skiing (we don't recommend it). From that idea came the concept of wearing it as a way to celebrate the island’s unique quirks, and Ski Nantucket was born.

The Nobby Shop closed its doors but, Sam’s desire to continue the Nobby Shop tradition of clothes and accessories that celebrate Nantucket remained alive and Ski Nantucket hopes to do that with a modern perspective.

Today, we’ve reinvented ourselves for a new generation of island lovers, adventurers, wanderers, and those who value quality and a touch of Nantucket spirit. From classic styles to fresh twists, our collections are for skiing black diamonds, strolling through cobblestone streets, enjoying Sconset to Madaket and everywhere in between.

Thank you for choosing us. We are proud to continue this journey with you—wearing the past, present, and future of Nantucket with every piece.
